‘Do It Anyway,’ a poem by Mother Teresa

January 16, 2010
By

Agnesë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, better known as Mother Teresa, with some of her friends.

People are often unreasonable, illogical,
and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some
false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone
could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis,
it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

    Today during my church service at First Baptist Mall pastor Jay quoted the poem “Anyway”. When he was quoting I had this overwhelming feeling of understanding what my purpose is. Too many times in ones life people strive to make others see what they feel others want them to be. Alot of times you walk in the wrong direction feeling as if hope is gone, wondering what you said or did wrong, remaining in concent sorrow because you pretend to be someone you are not. That is alot like myself. I strive to please everyone in every aspect of my life that I lost my way to the one that truely matters God. I truely believe that a person needs to be themselves because there will always be someone that will not necessay see things the way you do. Anyway there is only God and you that truely know what your purpose in life is.
